Half way thru

Just a few random pix here - one is the big ball statue thing that has several replicas (I think i heard someone say it's one of 8) all around the world, including at the UN. But this one actually spins. The girls are the ones from my class, as we waited to go to our library tour (LeeAnn in the back, Tara from Dublin in middle, and Mein Ying or Maggy looking away). The other is just a quick shot of Grafton street, the street with all the shops and all the performers constantly up and down it and all the tourists filling the street.

So I was expecting to have our fire drill last night and it didnt come. If we dont get it tonight then i wont really expect it after this... So we shall see.

I was on campus early today so we could have a library tour for our course. That was sorta neat. We were brought to the sections of the library that we would specifically need. The librarian gave us ins and outs of the library and explained how certain things work. They dont keep all that they own in these libraries, simply because there is just not enough room. Trinity College receives every publication from Ireland and the UK, since like 1800. Everything from childrens books to novels and texts books to Vogue and Playboy, even! Basically they have different storage units and we can ask for books or magazines and they can have it delivered to us within a day.

While waiting for the tour, since I got there early, I sat outside and watched all the tour groups pass by and take pix of the statue ball thing (which is why I could 1 too - heck, it's MY school!) I had one tourist ask me what else I should look at around campus and I answered with authority! haha. Then i had a bunch of high school age kids come to me to ask if I could do a survey for them, but since I've never seen the tv show they asked about then that was the end of that survey. I said I was from SC and this kid told me he had always wanted to visit Carolina! hahaha. I also told him that SC was getting all the rain that Ireland was not getting and he demanded the rain back... Ok....

After that we had some lunch and went to our Theatre lecture. One girl was out today leaving our class to a full 4 ladies! But it was good. We discussed Kathleen 'in Houlihan and A Bold Stroke for a Wife. There's a lot of interesting things that I'm learning in the class.

That's basically the class day. Then LeeAnn and Tara and I went to classy lookin pub. It wasnt a traditional Irish pub. It has modern look and this amazing out doors area. Everyone was preparing for the Irish game tonight. Last week Ireland played Italy (in soccer of course) and it was tie, so Ireland was playing again. The pub said they had 'bbq' which I was excited about. Turns out their bbq is not bbq, it's just grilled food. It's one thing to say 'we're gonna have a barbeque' when you're gonna grill, but to call your grilled food bbq? So i had chicken skewers and we talked about how in the states you get free refills on sodas and even free refills on fries at Red Robin, then LeeAnn and I started talking about how we miss Red Robin. Think I'm gonna definitely have to hit that when I come home!!

I talked to Sean a while. Haha, you know, Sean is a quiet kid, but when we wants to talk about something, he'll talk. I was just afraid that my phone would cut out on him cuz I'd use all my minutes. Luckily we were fine. I called when he was in the car with Dan so I to talk to him for a while too and that was cool.

Lastly I hit choir. It was good cuz I had actually practiced a song or two from the cd that they gave us last week, so I could sing even when the girls around me were getting lost, but this stuff is so complicated that I still got lost. They have the sopranos sitting by the piano, then all the guys are in the middle and we are the furthest away, so I cant hear the piano when it is playing (cuz it doesnt play often) to get an idea of where I am if I get lost... oh well. More practice to come.

And this weekend I may be hitting up Galway and Connemara and all that goes with that. We shall see...

Quick update on me - I've just got a little cough but it's slowly dying out. My blisters are still visible but dont hurt anymore, so I can wear which ever shoes I choose. I've got plenty of snacks to last me a little while, thanks to my parents. And it will be time to clean my room when I get my break tomorrow!
