So after I took a tour to the Swiss Alps, LeeAnn and I took a rather unsafe, never again as far as Kerry goes, trip to Fussen, near Munich, Germany. We did a over night train, having 7 different train changes. Sure, that's fine, except when you are waiting on the next train in a small open station at 4am, or 6am... and it's not like LeeAnn and I are fighting chicks... Dont worry, obviously we are fine, and we got thru without any issues, other than me being sick - oh yes, did I mention that? Our first train was at 1am out of Lucerne and I was feeling nauseous. After getting off the first train, heading over to the next train, I totally threw up in the next tracks over. Unfortunately that did not help me feel better. I felt pretty crappy the rest of the 8 hour trip. Plus, seeing as our trains were about 30 mins or 45 mins at a time, then we didnt have any time to sleep. So once we finally arrived around 10:30am or so, we walked for a bit until I decided since neither of us knew where we were walking to, to just grab a cab.
I'll tell ya, walking around all day carrying a bag fully stuffed with clothes for one week gets really heavy really quickly. You see, when you take a tour bus, at least they drive you around and then they keep your bags when you walk around to take in the sights. When you go the way we did, you'll need a chiropractor after your trip. I know at least a few of you who read this have your own chiros that you see regularly, so just keep in mind that I'll take suggestions!! It was so uncomfortable! And then wandering around trying to find something when you have no idea where to go is even worse! Pretty hard.
So anyways, we get to Fussen and after walking in a few different directions, I get a cab and he takes us to our hotel. It's just out in front of the awesome castle, known as Neuschwanstein Castle - the one that is Sleeping Beauty's castle. Yes, that's right, I was at Sleeping Beauty's Castle! :-) Now, yes, I realize that some of you who happened to live in Germany many moons ago have been to this castle. But I was unaware of that fact until recently. And now it was my turn to hit it up. There are beautiful views and the inside of the castle is amazing. I would have snuck pictures but we arent allowed to take pix inside.
I took an English language tour around 4 or so, and by the time we were done with the castle, it was dark - cuz it gets dark by around 5 - and the last bus down the hill left at 5. I watched it drive off. So I followed few people down the hill. Apparently dark, cold and down hill isnt great for me cuz I had a bloody nose by the time I was at the bottom. Crazy huh? I felt like Elliot! haha
Did a little shopping in the cute shops around the town and we got Schnitzel and fries and the salad had this lite balsamic vinaigrette on lettuce and that was tasty!! Now maybe it was the fact that I hadnt eaten or slept at this point, but that dressing was so good! haha The schnitzel was good too. That's what you should get over there, i guess. I was drinking a lot of Coke too cuz the water wasnt great. It had a funny flavor, and it was the same one you got everywhere. When you ask for water you get a bottle of water. But I didnt like their bottle water! Oh well....
