So as you know I went on a little trip this past week. And i figure that before I really start working on my paper, I should get this outta the way: Show you some pictures, tell a few stories, then you'll know, and i'll remember the most, and we can move on to more important things like papers!
First thing, LeeAnn and I flew Aer Lingus into Zurich Switzerland. I had my own row of chairs. That was nice. And it was only like 30e to fly into there. It's so easy to go places here! Once we landed we caught a train into the city center and wandered around for a couple hours aimlessly. That was cool. I didnt know what we were looking for, like most of the trip. We just wandered around, looked at pretty buildings and listened to all the German. Everywhere we went was German speaking. I had "danke" down, and I used it, but other than that, I had to rely on everyone else speaking English. I would have liked to had other words to use, but English is widely used. They are taught English in schools, so, I didnt feel so badly not knowing the language.
First, we wandered around Zurich. Then we took a train to Lucerne. We walked around Lucerne after checking into our hotel. We wound up eating at a coffee shop where I had fantastic pizza and hot chocolate. We went back to the hotel and watched CNN, the nice English speaking channel. The next morning we went to the tourist office and got tickets to go up to Stanserhorn Mountain up in the Swiss Alps. Cool huh?
You'll notice pictures of me going up the mountain. First we took a 200 yr old train, then transfered to a cable car to get up further. Once up there we ate at the revolving restaurant. We had this traditional cheese pasta with a wonderful cheese sauce. Oh so good!! And I ordered us a cheese plate. Yum-my! So so good!!
It was so foggy when we first got to the alps that you couldnt see much. We had a guide, Robert, offer to walk us around the top. But you couldnt see anything. Have you ever noticed those 'squiggly lines' in your eyes when you see something white. Well all you could see was white in front of you. So trying to avoid focusing on the squiggly lines in your eyes was impossible. Eventually, tho, it cleared up and we could see the amazing view from the top. You could see the town below and look at the alps all around. It was very very cold but a cool experience.
