So when my alarm went off this morning at 9:15am, I was confused. I forgot that I had a class today so I wasnt sure why my alarm was going off, and I really really wanted to go back to sleep. Oh so sleepy!! Then I remembered I had class and made myself get up. Since the room where my music class is has a class immediately before mine, then it's not like if I get there early I can just wait in the classroom. There's this little hall (definitely an old building) where you can wait, so I planned on giving myself just enough time to get there, with maybe 5 mins to spare. But I left a few mins later that I wanted so I booked it thru the rain to get to the Luas. I made it there about a minute before the tram arrived (good thing too cuz sometimes you can wait up to 15mins just to get another tram). But since I had walked as fast as I did, even in the stupid 40 something degree weather, I was hot. Then standing in the Luas for 15 more mins can just make it worse, and I again had the sick feeling. I guess I just need to give myself more time so I can walk at a slower pace.
I finally got to class and it's funny cuz my Prof, Fintan, pretty much only remembers my name! He can associate it with the county I guess. But his class was cool. We talked about really old ancient instruments and how they were made and talked about how music has been portrayed thru the centuries. A lot of carvings outside of Churches or on headstones show people playing pipes and harps. Then he played lots of different types of folk music. He played a fiddle being played in Donegal, Clare, and Kerry, and showed how they all had a different sound even tho they were played by the same instrument - it's just shows how music is different in the different parts of the country, even when using the same instruments. But he played (from a CD, mind you) different instruments that are quintessentially Irish, but of course are found in other parts of the world as well. We heard everything from the tin whistle to the Irish flute, fiddle, hammer dulcimer, banjo, bagpipes, guitar, piano - and they all had the same Irish folk sound. That was my favorite part, just sitting there listening to samples of Irish music. Really cool. I think a lot of you would have enjoyed it!!
After class I went to the Postgrad reading room (yes, there's this little library just for postgrads) and then to a computer building to print off my reservation for the tour to Wicklow tomorrow. Then headed home in the cold rain. I guess that's Ireland.
Once I got home, I finally got to sit down and watch this week's ANTM. I thoroughly enjoyed myself! Then I watched The Office from last night and LOL'ed. Good times. Glad to have some American tv shows that I can keep up on. makes me happy!! :)
So my flatmates have all asked me to go out with them to different things tonight, and tho I'd really like to, I fear that if I had such a hard time waking up for 9:15 this morning, I may really have a hard time waking up for 6:40 tomorrow morning. And tomorrow I'm going to need energy to walk around and be awake. So I think I'm going to take another Friday night and stay in. Besides, it's only just after 5pm and I'm already to go to bed. So maybe I should just chill. I wont have early Sat morning excursions every week, so I'll be available other Friday nights. But like poor Caroline who went out with classmates last night and didnt get to bed until 5am this morning, I think it may be best just for tonight to stay in again. I just dont have the energy (especially given my condition) to be real active the night before, then get up early and be awake and alert the next morning. As my mommy says, I take after my dad. I like my sleep. I need my sleep. So I'm going to stay in, stay warm and stay dry. Tomorrow I'll out, cold and wet. And i'll take pictures
