Facebook

PS - If you are ever on Facebook (and if not, dont worry about it) you can see one of my classmates, Karla, writing on my wall. You know that from the 6 ladies in our flat, 3 of us are Americans, one is Canadian, then we have one Romanian and one English. Not too much new culture in my flat. But in my course, we also have 6 ladies, and 3 are Irish, 2 of us are Americans and one is Chinese. I was just texting Irene earlier (from Co Meath) and I was chatting with Karla from Limerick on FB. The reason I'm putting this post up is because as we were talking, I told her I had lost one of our readings and she said I would find it, and then I did. And it was her response that made me laugh:

Karla Maree O'Sullivan Ha, you're gas!

That was just funny to me. She said other Irish sounding things, but that ending statement was good. She's got a good Irish voice too. It's not like some of these people in Dublin that barely have an accent, who almost sound American. No, no, she's got the good brogue (which, by the way, they dont call it a 'brogue'. Karla asked me today if that was a shoe. But, for a totally different subject, her mom makes homemade Soda bread every time she comes home. She likes that my dad makes it too! :-) )

  2. Well, we're glad that you're staying so busy, and that you aren't just surrounded by Americans!! I'm so glad that you have the opportunity to study with "real" Irish!

Actually, Dad's soda bread tastes a lot like what we've eaten in Ireland, so I know that makes him feel pretty good (especially since he started making it before we ever visited).

    Enjoy that blog!!
