If you havent done the TV theme song quiz from the post below yet, dont read this one, do the quiz, then read on:

Just to comment on the song quiz that Sean sent me - I can guess what my dad would pick on most of them! And there are some I can hear my mom singing or Tim singing (since he's incorporated several into tv theme medley), or can even hear Ted from Scrubs singing
There's definitely a generation thing in there! But then, some of them just shouldnt have been matched up. Too difficult to choose from.

Like the first choice - Charles in Charge vs Mary Tyler Moore. Come on, way too difficult! Do I want Charles in charge of me? Or am I gonna make it after all? I chose Charles. But that was a hard choice! Apparently not for the rest of the voters tho. I'm gonna make it after all. But I'm not sure I want to be a big city girl, be Mary Tyler Moore. Oh yes, how very Mary Tyler Moore of me (ok, Lisa knows what i'm saying)

Then, should I shake the cast of Bonanza's hands? Or should I come on, get happy with David Cassidy? I went with Bonanza. Doesnt matter when you were born, everyone can sing that tune.

The next one was, again, very hard for me. Who doesnt LOVE singing Gilligan's Island? But, especially as a tower of terror enthusiast, I cant help but get goose bumps every time I hear the Twilight Zone. I went with my Little Buddy.

The next one was no contest for myself. Fresh Prince or Hawaii Five-0? I yelled to the cabby Yo homes, smell ya later, as most in my generation! I know 5-0 was popular in it's day, and I know the tune, but I dont even recall seeing in on Nick at Nite.

The x-files is a creepy fun song but I went with the Jeffersons. But I'd like to try "movin on up to the east side" right?

Now, I know that Mission Impossible is like super famous, but I'm more of a thankful person. Thank you for being a friend. Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant.

My guess is that my parents would be split on this one (I think, maybe Mom would surprise me). I'd guess my dad for Addams Family and my mom for Monkees, and I went the Monkees route, which turned out to be a close call from everyone. Everyone loves snapping to the Addams Family but I'm the young generation and I've got something to say!

Yes, I'm gonna do it my way and make all my dreams come true. I chose Laverne & Shirely mostly cuz I dont think I've ever watched The Sopranos and was unfamiliar with the song.

Then on Page 2...

You've got Andy Griffith or the song that George uses for his answering machine message. That's the only way I knew the song for Greatest American Hero. I dont think I've ever actually heard it, other than George's rendition on Seinfeld. So I had to go with the whistling.

Next was surprising. I know Rawhide from the song my mom sings to Jordan haha. She sings "Jordan Jordan Jordan, keep that Jordan movin. Rawhide". Jordan loves his song. He wags his tail. haha. But as popular as the Simpsons is, I'm surprised how low the votes were. Guess you can tell the generation who was voting!

Again, the next was a no brainer for me. Friends or Welcome Back Kotter. Should I pick John Travolta? I've seen that show once, maybe twice ever. No. I'll be here for you. Cuz you're there for me tooooo.

I couldnt really remember hearing the Munsters so I chose Green Acres. I think the Green Acres theme will be in my head forever.

This one was sorta unfortunate that it was together. I dont know Twin Peaks at all. Dont have any memory of ever seeing it. I know I've seen MASH lots of times, but when I played the theme song, I honestly didnt recognize it.... So I had to choose which tv show did I actually know.. MASH won, as I see most people agreed.

The next was probably the most difficult for me to choose. Yes, even harder than choosing between Mary and Charles. Do I choose the group, that must somehow form a family to become the Brady Bunch? Or do I take the good, take the bad, take them both and there I have the facts of life? There's a time I gotta go and show I'm growin now I know about the facts of life. When the world never seems to be living up to my dreams, suddenly I'm finding out the facts of life are all about Me, meeeee. It was the unpopular choice but I had to make it. Sometimes when youre away from home certain songs just sing out! And when I had my hands up in the air singing along, yup, I knew this was my song. Sorry to all the hair of gold ladies and the 4 men living all together.

Next, Law and Order? Or happy days? I chose to go with These days are ourrrrrrrrs Oh happy days.

And the last choice. Another 2 good songs. I think my parents would be split between the Beverly Hillbillies and Cheers. I dig both of them. But again, being in another country, and the fact that I had my hands in the air waving - Sometimes i wanna go where everybody knows my name. I wanna go where people know, the people are all the same. I wanna go where everybody knows my name!! AMEN

And those are my choices. You may disagree. You may think I'm mental, but this is where I stand. Now, after wasting more time, I really should get to those plays I have to read for tomorrow!

  1. Kerry - you were so right! Dad and I listened to them all together, and we were mostly split on the ones that you thought we would be (although I talked Dad into joining me in the vote for Cheers!). The only one I lost out on was Greatest American Hero - Dad really likes that one! I laughed outloud when you quoted my song to Jordan, because that's what I sang when I saw the Rawhide theme!!

  2. See? I guess he also would have liked George's answering machine message then too. I like Seinfeld, but even there you can see how it was a little ahead of my time - like not knowing why he was singing this song. I'd never heard it and cant actually say that i've heard of Greatest American Hero... oh well. guess i'll hafta check it out sometime if dad really likes it.

Jordan. He loves his song!! And i can hear you singing it :-)

  3. I actually sang Jordan "his" song yesterday, too. He was sick when we got back from Ireland because he had actually torn up and eaten a lot of that red and black quilt that we used to have down on the floor for him to sleep on. Anyway, it took him about 2 weeks to get all better (what other 13 1/2 year old big dog would survive stuff like that in his intestines?). He's feeling much better, now though, and last night he was even chasing Charlie a bit and stealing his toys, etc. I think the "Jordan Song" got him going!!

  5. I haven't actually taken the quiz yet, but I am so in love with this blog about the quiz, that I don't even feel the need to take it! You make me laugh cousin! :) But, I have to say I totally would have had to go with the Patridge Family! I went thru a total nick @ nite phase--Come on get happy!!!! (yes, I'm a total nerd!)

Gotta LOVE Golden Girls!!! And yes, I would have gone with Friends, but would have been sad to let go "Welcome back Kotter"--such a classic! I am totally with you--I would have gone with the Monkees too!

And lastly---"You're Mary Tyler Moore!" "Oh, yes, so very Mary Tyler Moore--everyone thinks so." :) :) :) (I long to fax someone!) hahaha :)
