So on Sunday, I set up my alarm and woke up, got out of the apartment and made it to church on time. This is sad, but dont feel too bad. It was welcome students week and they were having a free newcomers lunch after church. Well one lady sat next to me so I chatted with her for a while after church, but when she left I sorta sat there for a while. I kept looking around but it's not like I'd find someone since I dont know anyone there. After sitting there for a while feeling like a total cool person, I finally slipped out. I had intended to stay and meet new people, but I felt bad just sitting there alone, not knowing what to do or where to go. I'm good with finding people who are alone and going up to talk to them, but there werent any solos. There were tons of groups and you know, most people have a hard time walking into groups. So no free lunch for Kerry. I just went to the grocery store and got a few bags worth of groceries. Then I grabbed some KFC - the real Irish food - and got a taxi to bring me and my bags back. That was a good idea that I may invest in in the future. It wasnt even 5 euro to get taken back to Hall. That's worth it to me!Then I chilled out. That was my Sunday. We've started a tradition where one girl cooks each Sunday. Monique cooked dinner yesterday. That was one less thing I had to do.
Today I had my first screening. It was a silent film from the play The Colleen Bawn. There was no sound. I know you dont get talking in a silent film, but lots of times there is music playing in the background. No music. Almost 2 hours of watching a very old film. Unfortunately it got a little boring. But I had planned on reading the play, but I guess I've got the gist of it now that i've watched the film.
I came home today and did laundry. It's cost my 10 euro to do 2 loads. That's $15 you know! Pretty bad. So I gotta go and get the clothes outta the dryer before someone decides to take it out for me....
Then I'll focus on reading my play for tomorrow
So sorry about the lonely time at church. Don't give up. I'm sure it'll take some time, but I hope you'll connect with some of the college/career students there - I hope soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you stayed awake for a 2 hour silent film - I don't htink I could do that!!
Charlie says hi - he's scratching on my arm - very curious about what I'm doing at the moment:)!
