So I'm going to try to not write much so I can leave room for all the loads of pictures (only a fraction of what I took). My classmate LeeAnn and I went on a tour to the Wicklow Mnts, in County Wicklow, south of Dublin. We left at 9am Saturday morning. Our bus driver guide was named Martin and had one of those good Irish accents. Our bus was filled and had maybe 30 people on it. Mostly french people.
First we hit Dun Laoghaire, and I've got one picture of the town (at the top). If you remember from P.S. I Love You, Hillary Swank tells Gerard Butler that she's staying in this town. And she totally butchers the name (sounds like done leery). So that was cool, just because of the movie.
I have a picture from the road of the pretty green mountains (the first picture, i think). We got off at one spot to look at one beautiful private property. It's huge, and the owner is a mail man and part time sheep farmer!
Then we stopped at Guiness Lake. The lake is black, like Guiness, but is also owned by one of the Guiness owners. A group of sheep were only about 20 yards away, just hanging out.
Next you see me sitting on a stone bridge, and a shot of random people standing on the bridge - it's where they filmed PS I love You, where Hillary met Gerard for the first time when she was in college. She was trying to find Wicklow Park and he tells her she's in it. This is the same area. So cool!
Lastly you see me in Glendalough, where all the stone work is. The Hollohans should remember this spot. I got to walk down to The Valley of Two Lakes, passed the rivers and a few houses in the mountains. I also found a funny sign, what we've discovered Ireland is made of. Just like to hear what Sean would come up with to explain the meaning of the sign.
You'll see two videos, as well. One is at Guiness Lake and it was very windy and very cold. You can hear the wind and you will notice the shaking in my hands. It wasnt my condition this time, it was just really cold! The second is down in The Valley of Two Lakes at Glendalough.
Enjoy
The Wicklow trip looks like great fun! I know that we will want to try one or two of those day trips when we visit. We're still planning on February, so I'm sure it will be cold!!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are great! I love to see you in the videos from time to time, because you always look like you're having fun:)
I wonder if dad would like to be a farmer/mail man? Also, when I saw the unusual Irish sign - before I read your comment - I thought exactly the same thing about Sean!
Love the pics! I love your hat! You're totally cute, cousin! So glad you guys went--even though it was crazy cold....can't wait to go and see Ireland with you--whenever that may be :)
